Creative Portfolios

What is a creative Portfolio?

A creative Portfolio is a place to display creative works from an individual. Nowadays it is usually a website that can be filled with images, videos and quirky animations.

Active Theory

Who are they:
A team of specialist designers and developers.
What do they do:
Creative digital experiences; websites, apps and virtual reality.
Why are they included:
The whole feel of the website is beautiful. The animation, the backgrounds, the dark vibe to them are lovely to look at. Even the loading screen is unique and beautiful.  The first page isn’t too crowded, there is not a lot of large letters covering the screen, which i have seen on other portfolios, and the navigation bar is flipped to the side. The website looks detailed and very sophisticated.

Robby Leonardi

Who are they:
He is a multidisciplinary designer who focuses on animation, graphic design, illustration and front-end development.
What do they do:
Graphic design, illustration and animation.
Why are they included:
I find his website unique, colourful and fun. The interactive resume is set out like a plat-former video game, and I find myself drawn to its creativity and quirkiness.  The other two websites give of a childlike feel, possibly because of its cartoonist style, that is mesmerising to look at.  The whole website is aesthetically pleasing, for it reminds you of childhood cartoons and games and it also gives out facts about the creator. It is just fun to mess around with.

Ann Friedman
Who are they:
A writer, specifically a journalist and essayist.
What do they do:
She writes essays, creates pie charts and podcasts. She currently writing a book with her friend.
Why are they included:
Despite the simplistic design to her website, the sketches for each link on the first page are adorable. Her career as a writer is similar to what I plan to do in the future, and so her website idea is the most relatable. This is the main reason why I chose her portfolio.  Actually, she is included because of her comical pie charts.

Lucy Lettersmith

Who are they:
They are a copywriter and content marketer.
What do they do:
She writes the text for advertisements, publicity materials, the blogs for businesses and manages businesses’ social media.
Why are they included:
The layout, despite its simplicity, is colourful and organised.  She has also integrated a slideshow and email newsletter sign up which gives her website much more detail. It is clear and structured. Her name includes a pencil, which straight away shows that she is someone creative. Underneath her name shows what she does, and, unlike other portfolios, the viewer doesn’t need to read her “about me” information as this is clear from the start.

Danny Cooke
Who are they:
A director, cinematographer and filmmaker.
What do they do:
The camera work behind the film and the overall management of films.
 Why are they included:
The short videos from his slideshow at the top of the web page captured my eyes straight away. The overall website is simple, yet his videos and images are the added charm to make it stand out. His (presuming the videos were captured by him) slow motion videos are eye catching, bold and mesmerising to watch.  Over the videos are letters that explain exactly what he does, which both of these give an overall standing of who he is.
